Another Must-watch?

thiem-montreal-2019-friday2

Let’s just say a Thiem win today over Medvedev would be a good sign for the Austrian. Remember his run at the Open last year? Domi needs another shot at that and a SF appearance, at least, here in Montreal would do a lot for that to happen.

Certainly a tricky final four for those in the bottom half of this bracket. Tough today, tomorrow and probably a hungry Nadal in the final.

I still think Thiem is too far back in the court, but we know he can usually hit his way out of most trouble. Daniil will be a tall order for Domi, for sure.

That “must watch” yesterday turned-out okay, no? Brilliant stuff though both had some poor shot-making, poor service games, etc. We’ve said this from the beginning about FAA: his serve can disappear on occasion. He had all kinds of trouble yesterday; perhaps twice he had back-to-back DFs at very inopportune moments in the match.

Still, brilliant talent is the Canadian. There are whispers of a BH athleticism from this kid that resembles Djokovic. He needs to hone that game so he can challenge the top.

Karen was the favorite yesterday despite the home crowd and his precocious opponent.

Khachanov v Zverev should be a great match, as well.

What a bottom half!

That semi-final is delicious either way you cut the bastard.

The top has Nadal to contend with. How about the winner of Monfils/RBA giving Nadal a bit of trouble in that other SF? Foghat doesn’t have a shot today, does he?

Let’s pull for an RBA v Nadal SF. Monfils has been sensational this year, but who doesn’t want to see RBA continue this elevated form?

Cheerio, tennis fans!
