I Should Write About How Djokovic

Is still dominating and none of the younger generation players poses much of a threat, let alone that any of them has real championship class.

But I wrote about that for the last 3 or 4 years, so wouldn’t that be a bit redundant? 🙂

Granted, I have lost the mojo in general to keep up with this blog, covering ATP or anything for that matter. But the state of the sport (Alcaraz, Sinner, Rune, et al. are unproven and underwhelming) consistently supports my decision. Sorry.

There’s just not much out there.

At least Dimitrov is in this Paris final. So happy for the old one-hander. I recall seeing him play at the Covid-orchestrated San Diego Open back in 2021, sitting front row as he took his classy (and inconsistent) attack to Karatsev in a QF (lost to Ruud in a SF).

  1. Hi Matt,
Maybe you recall the old Thiem aficionado?
I understand and share your pessimism re ATP’s latest generations. I have maintained Thiem-blog since 2017 till 2022, then stopped, not because of Thiem’s low, but for personal reasons. Now I just decided to revive it (it’s here: prf-dominicthiem.com) because I believe, things are coming close to Neo-Thiem real comeback, with some surprise skills and of course still without killer instinct, as since US Open 2020 his motto is “Don’t want to be defined by results anymore”. Your “transcend success” revived?
    Cheers
