This journeyman/rookie/newberry/giant killer is the ATP in a nutshell.
Really none of these next gen, younger tour talents has amounted to much so far and yes I am including the Tsitsipas, Thiem, Zverev and Medvedevs of the world. Sinner, a lot of people’s favorite young dynamite talent, just got “stunned” by Karatsev. You know, the guy that made the AO ’21 SF a few weeks ago. And prior to that had about 3 ATP match wins.
I understand the pandemic is wreaking havoc on all kinds of growth, development and normalcy, but this stagnation of talent and depth on the ATP has been a problem for a long time. And no, save your the tour has more depth now than ever bullshit.
Long live the short story/epic that has been Aslan Karatsev!
