Paris Quarter Finals

The two top seeds will be tested today.

Novak-Djokovic-1196049

Djokovic v Tsitsipas and Nadal v Tsonga.

I’m rooting for the two one-handers in the other two QF matches, hoping to see Dimitrov and Shapovalov advance. Great to see the Canadian put a bit of wood to Zverev yesterday.

Dimitrov destroyed Thiem.

If you want to see what a one-hander’s game should look like, watch that match as we see a one-hander in near full-flight v a one-hander who remarkably approaches the point (offensively and defensively) like a two-hander. Dimitrov served pretty well which gave him an advantage; this coupled with his more typical one-hander game of a more offensive style saw Thiem off in only 73 minutes.

Just look at their proximity to the BL on defense and how they come to net to on offense. Advantage Dimitrov. Too bad he’s made such a mess of things throughout his career. Nice little bit of form the second half of the year here in 2019.

All I saw of Nadal v Wawrinka yesterday was the early break by Nadal. Stan’s BH, game in general, in such a tight space doesn’t fare too well. Looks like he kept it close, but Nadal moves on.

Tsonga has to have a little something for the Spaniard today. In front of his home crowd, recalling great form of yesteryear. Let’s see the 34 year-old give Nadal a memorable fight.

I’ve seen very little of Djokovic, but he doesn’t seem completely in control. Still, he usually finds the form in later rounds. He’ll need some today against Tsitsipas. With Shanghai looming in the background, Djokovic will certainly have to play some solid tennis to put-out the Greek fire.

I did not see Stefanos’ blow-out win v De Minaur, but that scoreline is music to my ears beyond the W. The Aussie grinder is getting some free tennis lessons recently from some big one-handers.

Can Rafa and Novak stay afloat today? Something tells me trouble lurks on the Paris hardcourts for our two favorites. Getting them both through would be a huge step toward what could be a drama drenched final between these two.

Enjoy.
